If It Is Still On Your Mind…It’s Worth The Risk: Follow Your Dreams

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. We feel like this statement truly sheds light on societal standards portrayed in our culture. For musicians, it can be rather rigorous finding the strength to pursue a career in the arts. The insecurity of which road to take can become overwhelming at times, as the path of an artist is a road less traveled. When you have other footsteps to follow, the journey can become a bit easier. This is not to say that other professions are easy to fulfill by traveling on their roads. Although, it is to be said that there are many paths one can take leading into the entertainment industry, helping you arrive at the same destination. The many options can make it difficult to foresee which roads will legitimately deliver you to your goals as an artist. Sometimes we don’t even realize that the journey of becoming an artist is the actual self-fulfilling prophecy of already BEING an artist.

The windy roads of your journey all take part in the process of being an artist and developing your brand. It kind of makes us disappointed to think how many times we have tried to describe to others the process and non-structural occurrences that actually impacted our career as music artists. Many people are conditioned to believe that you must have firm steps in place to live your life, remaining closed minded in deviating from this conditioned state. To us, the music industry is the definition of a non-traditional path, as some of our most important meetings have happened in fast food restaurants. You would never think that this culminates the glitzy appearance of entertainment, but it does. To all the people out there trying to figure out how to attain the professional title of an artist – DON’T. Just be present in the moment and focus on doing your best everyday. Whether that means writing lyrics, singing in the car to practice your craft, or even doing research on your favorite artist – just enjoy the ride of finding your purpose. It really is all about your perception and the way you shape your reality. If you work hard and stay focused on your goals, you will then be able to see the bigger picture from a third perspective, giving you insight on how far you have come. Don’t become discouraged if things don’t always work out. We believe that everything happens the way it should. When you go with the flow and truly love what you are doing, peace will naturally flood to you. Eventually, you will figure out the puzzle pieces that fit best in patching together your work flow, brand, and musical style.

It may seem like you don’t know what to do or that you are wasting time. Although, this is not the case – the life of an artist, in our opinion, is all about finding out what really lies beneath the surface of your craft. Investigating the ins and outs is the journey that leads you to unexpected places and new faces you would have never thought to meet. Be open to the possibilities that are presented to you, for this is the true richness of your craft. It’s okay to not know where to start in a world that always tells you who you are, what you are supposed to be doing, and where you need to be in life. These are just illusions that stifle creativity, and try to shape individuals to be something they are not. So if you have a dream, like we do, just get out there and start doing what you love. No matter what anyone says, have resolution in yourself, work hard, and have hope. If you don’t believe in yourself, who will? There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way!
